Independence Day

Good friends invited us over for a cookout for the 4th and I was just starting in on replanting the perennial bed I ripped out last weekend. What wonderful inspiration!

More on how that went

Suffice it to say, I got down to business quickly and got it done in time to accept the invitation. Even had time to run to the store for wine and flowers for my hostess. If she spent the day in the kitchen, the least I could do was bring her a little of the outdoors I had been enjoying!

Yummy shishkabobs and excellent white corn were accompanied by salad and Italian bread, topped off by a red, white, and blue trifle of angel food cake, whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries.

By a later bonfire, we admired the neighbors’ fireworks and made plans for a weekend at their lake home. I do love this lifestyle!

Thank to all who have preserved our freedom to enjoy it!
